Dry flies and nymphs.

Later in the season, when the river is low and warm, we will have to dig out flies that are different from the modern salmon flies. Now I mostly use classic and modern dry flies. The fly box for these conditions include the following flies: Riffling Hitch, Bombers, Muddlers, Streaking Caddis, Rakkelhanen, Madam X, Goddard Caddis and Superpuppan. The classical wet flies I use for slow salmon are: Teal and Silver, Kopparslagarfluggu and Highlander variants for fishing during the day. Towards the evening the favourites include March Brown, Phatagorva or Hairy Mary. Night fishing is somewhat simpler, then a Red Butt will suffice. I tie all these wet flies using both single and double hooks in sizes 8-12. I have also developed some salmon nymphs, tied in similar colours to the above-mentioned flies. I often fish these flies using a floating/sink 3 line from Guideline. I will write more about my experiences fishing during these conditions later.
